Abstract
With the aim of improving water use efficiency in vineyards of Sistan region,
a experiment was conducted at the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Education Station of Zahak County during the years 2020 to 2024. The experimental treatments included an irrigation regime of control (full irrigation), irrigation after 35% soil moisture deficiency, and irrigation after 70% soil moisture deficiency and Irrigation stages consisted of: from bud burst to flowering, from flowering to fruit color change, from berry color variation to harvest, and from harvest to leaf fall. The greatest reduction in traits such as berry weight, cluster rachis weight, number of berries per cluster, cluster weight, number of clusters per vine, and fruit yield occurred under irrigation after 70% depletion of available soil water during the flowering to berry color change stage. These reductions amounted to 28.2%, 38.8%, 77.3%, 70.6%, 56.8%, and 87.8%, respectively, compared to the control. The lowest fruit yield was recorded under irrigation after 70% depletion of available water during the flowering to berry color change stage, reaching 770 kg/ha, representing an 87.8% decrease compared to the control. Overall, the results showed that fruit yield under irrigation deficit during the berry color change to harvest stage was similar to that of full irrigation, making it a recommended strategy for the Sistan region.
